Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" hosts, Michael Che and Colin Jost, received a surprise visit from their former castmate, John Mulaney, during the April Fool's Day episode of the show.

Mulaney, who left SNL in 2018, appeared on "Weekend Update" to jokingly announce that he was joining the hosts' team as a third anchor. The segment included Mulaney delivering some of his trademark offbeat humor and cracking jokes about his recent stint in rehab.

The surprise appearance was well-received by fans, many of whom took to social media to express their excitement at seeing Mulaney back on the SNL stage. The comedian has become a fan favorite in recent years thanks to his stand-up specials and his appearances on shows like "Big Mouth" and "Documentary Now!"

Che and Jost, who have co-hosted "Weekend Update" since 2014, also delivered their usual mix of news commentary and political satire during the episode. The hosts tackled topics ranging from President Biden's infrastructure plan to Lil Nas X's controversial music video.

Saturday Night Live has been a fixture of American television since its debut in 1975, and "Weekend Update" has become one of the show's most beloved segments. Che and Jost have continued to entertain audiences with their quick wit and irreverent humor, and the addition of Mulaney as a surprise guest only added to the show's already impressive comedic lineup.
