Early Life & Childhood: Charles Pierre Baudelaire was born on 09 April 1821 in Paris, France. In 1832/33 his family moved to Lyon. In Lyon, he was admitted to a military boarding school. In 1836, his family moved back to Paris. After that, Baudelaire entered the Lycée Louis-le-Grand to study low. Though he was a good student but dismissed just before graduation in 1839. In 1841, his stepfather sent him on a voyage to Calcutta, India. After returning ten months later, he became friends with other authors and artists. In 1842, he got a good-sized inheritance.

Personal Life & Family: Charles Baudelaire's father, François Baudelaire was a civil servant who died in his childhood in 1827. After his father died, his mother, Caroline Defayis married Caroline Defayis. In 1841, Baudelaire met Jeanne Duval (1820-92) in a lifelong relationship.

Later Life & Death: In 1845, Charles Baudelaire published his first book, Salon of 1845. In 1848, French Revolution broke out and he took part in Revolution. In 1857, Baudelaire published his most famous work, Les Fleurs du mal (The Flowers of Evil). In 1859, Baudelaire began suffering from a number of chronic. In 1864, he moved to Paris in the hope to sell the rights to his works. In 1866, he suffered from a massive stroke, which was followed by paralysis. Charles Baudelaire died of a stroke on 31 August 1867. He was buried at Cimetière du Montparnasse, Paris, France.
