Caligula (31 August 12 AD – 24 January 41 AD) was the Roman Emperor from 37 AD to 41 AD. He was the 3rd emperor (before him Caesar Augustus and Tiberius) of Rome. He was born on 31 August 12 AD in Antium, Italy. His father was Germanicus and his mother was Agrippina the Elder. Caligula's great-great-grandfather was Julius Caesar, great-grandfather was Augustus and great-uncle adopt-father was Tiberius. On 16 March AD 37, Tiberius died and Caligula became emperor with the army's support. In 41 AD, he was assassinated in by his own Praetorian Guard's soldiers. Caligula was succeeded by his uncle Claudius.
